Vakia Starvou
In Cyprus, Greek culture gave it one of its most beautiful names, Alasia, a name in close link with the sea as per the etymologists. For the poet, it is a land “embraced by the sea”.
In his latest album, Vakia Stavrou places his “Alasia” at the center of the world, in the middle of a Mediterranean of sense and sensibility. It would be an understatement to speak just of his pure voice, his radiant inspiration, the spells of a sensitivity expressed in several languages.
“A clear and lifting voice from Cyprus, sailing, with just the strings of his guitar … Epitomy of a luso-Hispanic Mediterranean song, scented with Brazilian and Argentinean scents. ” (Anne Berthod, Télérama)
