Morocco takes pride in its vocation, that of a land of intercultural dialogue, of civilisational interaction, and of the affirmation of universal values and ideals. Many are the national institutions that help make this vocation a tangible reality.

This is why they will remain the heritage of all humanity, and why it belongs to no nation, nor to any people, whatever their contribution, to claim a monopoly or guardianship over them, still less to display any condescension towards others.

But a challenge persists and calls upon us all, in the countries of the North as in those of the South. It is a matter of knowing to what extent we are able to embrace this tendency towards the universal, while ensuring respect for cultural pluralism, for the virtues of dialogue and mutual esteem, and for the right to difference and diversity.

We are deeply convinced that strengthening the dialogue of cultures and civilisations and respect for cultural diversity cannot become a concrete international reality without a national anchoring that allows each citizen to embrace their noble objectives.
