Maqâm Roads
This evening, theTurkish singer Aburrahman Tarikci and the Tunisian violinist Zied Zouari will give us an initiation into the different universes of the Maqâm via their peroframce entitled, “Maqâm Roads”. Thus, making of Marmamra Island a forum for cross-fertilization of musical cultures: Tba ‘of Tunisia, Raga of India, Gnawa of Morocco. Originating from the Turkish islands, maqâm genre runs as a common thread enabling dialogue between different musical traditions while all converging on the Marmara Island. The Armenian drummer Julien Tekeyan will accompany the two artists.
This trio recounts the relics of an ancestral song through contemporary rhythms. It is an unusual story constantly renewed through the journey.
