Facebook joins Maroc Cultures on the occasion of the 17th edition of the Mawazine Festival – Rhythms du Monde

Facebook is pleased to announce its collaboration with Maroc Cultures for the 17th edition of the Mawazine Festival, a major cultural and must-attend event for music lovers and fans.

As the first social network in Morocco and in the world, Facebook has decided to join Mawazine, the first festival in Morocco and Africa, which brings together each year in Rabat and Salé the big names of Arabic, African and international music as well as the best artists of the Moroccan scene.

The presence of Facebook alongside the Mawazine Festival, reinforces its cultural dimension, sharing, accessibility, tolerance and openness, which are values dear to the social network.

Placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and organized by the Maroc Cultures Association, this leading cultural event promotes the values of the Kingdom and carries a message of tolerance, openness, respect and dialogue.

Accompanying such an event is also part of Facebook’s strategy to bring people together around moments of joy and sharing, relaying them live or through the many different features with their communities on Facebook.

Facebook and Mawazine promote openness, understanding and sharing, with the common goal of facilitating youth access to entertainment and culture.

Mawazine will start on June 22nd and will offer free access to 90% of shows and concerts. It will coincide this year with the launch of Facebook Flex, a free version of Facebook that will allow all Moroccans to stay connected for free with their loved ones.

Bringing together a community of more than 16 million fans in Morocco, Facebook is happy to offer every day, a platform of exchanges so that each of the millions of fans can share, comment, love and exchange with their community.

On this occasion, the President of Maroc Cultures declared:

“The Mawazine Festival is proud to count, among its sponsors an important partner such as Facebook.

As a reminder, Maroc Cultures does not benefit from any public subsidy for Mawazine. This Festival is organized every year thanks, on the one hand, to the contribution of many private national and international economic operators, in the framework of a commercial relation and on the other hand thanks to its faithful concert goers, to whom the event is dedicated in the first place.

Its influence in the global artistic and musical sphere will undoubtedly be even more important thanks to Facebook and its Facebook Flex innovation which offers a free service”.

For his part, the Director of Facebook Partnerships, in charge of the MENA region expressed his satisfaction:

“Supporting Mawazine, a world class Festival, is an amazing opportunity for us. It has naturally imposed itself, given all the values that we have in common: values of sharing, reconciliation, tolerance, respect and dialogue.

We are very pleased with this partnership, which coincides with the launch of Facebook Flex in Morocco, a new free service that will make it easier for everyone to access Facebook and further democratize connectivity.”
