Stars of Hip Hop and Pop music on the OLM Souissi Stage

Rabat, Wednesday May 15th, 2019: Under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the 18th edition of the Mawazine Festival Rhythms of the World is pleased to announce the performances of Aya Nakamura, Travis Scott and the group Migos, who will perform respectively on the OLM Souissi stage on Wednesday 26th and Thursday 27th of June.

Considered one of the best rappers in the United States, Travis Scott has inscribed his talent to the big names of American rap, such as Drake, Kendrick Lamar or J Cole. One of the most influential hip-hop artists on the other side of the Atlantic, the 27-year-old Houston-born singer has been on a successful path since meeting in 2013 with Kanye West, who helped him produce his first EP and collaborated two years later on his first album, Rodeo, alongside Justin Bieber. The following years, Travis Scott has had many hit albums, as well as successful collaborations (with Drake, N’as and DJ Khaled, among others) and a beautiful love story: the rapper is none other than the husband of Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian’s half-sister!

Travis Scott’s opening act will be performed by a rising star of the RnB scene. Having gone from the status of revelation of the year to that of superstar of music in less than a year, the singer Aya Nakamura has pinpointed the daily life of the French youth in 2018 with hits such as Comportement, Copines and especially Djadja whose music video has amassed more than 360 million views on YouTube! The transition to the scene was natural for the artist, born in 1995 in Mali in a family of griots and who grew up in France. After a successful debut on social networks and many collaborations, her breakthrough came as soon as the release in 2017 of her first album, Journal Intime, certified gold!

The next day, on Thursday, June 27th, it will be the turn of Migos to take the lead. The American rap band made a name for themselves worldwide in 2013 thanks to the single Versace. The following year, they published a mixtape, No Label II, downloaded more than 100,000 times in its first week of publication … and certified gold record. The hit Bad and Boujee, from the second studio album Culture, reached the first place on the Billboard Hot 100. With over 13 million followers on Facebook and Instagram, Migos is also the darling of fans on social networks. Declined in a second part, Culture II, in 2018, the last opus of the group has definitely imposed Migos as the megastars of US hip-hop. It must be said that with this last album, the trio from Atlanta released heavy artillery with its collaborations (Drake, Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, Post Malone, Gucci Mane, 21 Savage) and its producers (Pharrell Williams, Metro Boomin, Zaytoven and Kanye West)!
