Emblem of the Arab alternative scene, Mashrou’Leila has mixed rock and electro touches with tunes of traditional oriental music. Musical sensation of the Middle East, the group formed in Beirut in 2008 tackled issues of individual freedom, gender identity and women’s rights. In four albums, they became the standard bearer of an Arab youth eager to tackles different issues.
